Star Wars models for DAZ
Images of available Star Wars models for your 3D rendering. Note that these are not downloads but, where possible, download links will be on the pages. Some are hi-res characters and clothing for G8 and G3 models, some are simple objects such as vehicles. I'm hoping this will be a fairly exhaustive look at both free and premium models available for Star Wars fans.

Description
This is a render of a quick test pose I threw together of my "valkyrie-in-training" character model. It's part of an assessment task requiring a fully rigged, textured and animated 3d character. The limit for the assessment was 4000 triangles, and my model is at 3990.

This is the first time I've attempted to make a 3d character model from scratch. I used Autodesk Maya 2009 to do this. I kind of rushed through everything as I had many assessments due, so I intend to go back and redo some parts of it later.
The mesh took about 4 days to do, as I got stuck a few times on how to go about modelling parts, like the face. Rigging and fixing the weights took me about 2 - 3 days. Maya froze, crashed or magically reverted or mixed weights several times, but I found some scripts that really saved me.
The texture is rather simple and only took a day or two. I wanted to apply cel/toon shading but couldn't find any solid information on how to do it in Maya, so I just removed the lighting and maxed out ambience instead. There are specular and bump maps, but they aren't visible because there's no lighting.
I've still yet to name the character.
